Bird Advent calendar – Day 1

I thought I would do a count down to Christmas with a suprise bird every day. The rules to myself are that I can only do a blog post on a bird I see on that day.

Luckily I can start the countdown off with a marvellous bird, The Raven!  This is a bird that is often heard before seen, like on the bird survey last Saturday when its distinctive ‘Kronk’ was heard overhead making everyone look up and shout ‘RAVEN’.

This lunchtime as I was sat in the living room I heard the Raven calling so I grabbed my camera, opened the window and managed to get these photos

Raven 1

This Raven normally nests by the river, on top of a pylon, each year and can be often seen or heard flying over my house or the wood.
