Bird Advent calendar – Day 2

Day 2 of my count down to Christmas is a Grey Wagtail.

This particular bird has been hanging out by the puddles on the edge of the fields the last couple of days. The Grey Wagtail is part of the Pipits and Wagtails family, they eat insects and can be seen all year round. It is different to the Yellow Wagtail who has a full yellow breast and has lighter wings.

I have only seen Grey Wagtails at Farmoor Reservoir and down by our local Lock.

Even though it’s the 2nd December I saw a butterfly out today. It was in the distance but I think it was a Brimstone.
