Bird advent calendar – Day 15

The Goldcrest is a bird I had in my head that I wanted on my advent calendar blog. There seem to be loads about at the moment, even one in the Yew tree outside our front window.

As I walk down the road, the hedge has little brown birds hopping quickly from branch to branch making a high pitch call. Occasionally I see flashes of yellow from the strip on their heads or the bars on their wings.

Unfortunately they are incredibly hard to take photos of as they move so quickly and are often in and out of the branches of thick hedges. It is slightly easier to see them now the hedges have lost their leaves.

Here are a few of my failures including quite a few Goldcrest bums.
