While out at the local reservoir, not looking for anything in particular, I came across a male kestrel drinking from a puddle.
I quietly sat down on the ground and started to take some photos.
He cautiously drank, all the while watching around him.
After a few moments he hopped in to the water and started to wash. First putting his head under the water then letting the water rolled over his back. After a quick shake and groom under his wings, he repeated it again.
The sound of barking dogs made the Kestrel fly up in to a nearby tree to finish off his grooming.

What a beautiful male Kestrel! Must have been wonderful to have such a close up view. Fantastic video too. I haven’t seen a Kestrel drink from a puddle before. š

Terrific field craft, to get that close and not startle the kestrel away. I am so impressed.
