This is my diary of the wildlife where I live in Oxfordshire, and sometimes the places I visit. I am a 18 year old young naturalist with a passion for British wildlife, especially Badgers and Hares. I have been blogging since May 2013 and you can read my old blog posts at www.appletonwildlifediary.blogspot.co.uk
For a while I’ve been using a Birdsy camera to film the wildlife and in particular the birds in my garden.
Last weekend I moved it around again, this time focusing it on the birdbath in the back garden.
It has been picking up some nice footage of a blackbird family. I’ve only seen the male blackbird with the young.
I’ve just been reading up about blackbirds on the RSPB website and fledged young are often left in the care of the male, while the female prepares for the next nesting attempt, so our female is hopefully getting ready for brood number 2.

I do it via Youtube as I only have limited space on the blog. I also put the photos in lower res to save storage space on the blog. Otherwise I’ll have to pay more.
Sometimes it is a pain as I only want short clips on my blog so my Youtube channel probably looks quite rubbish.
But it is easy to embed them from YouTube straight on to the blog

Nice! Great time of year to have to blog about local wildlife. Do you upload your videos into your blog directly or via YouTube? Thanks!

Yes, I’m constantly conflicted between wanting to put my best format photo up and needing space. Sounds like I need to get smarter on YouTube!
